Nutrition

Nutrition is an application of basic biochemistry.  An excellent, fairly priced reference book of biochemistry/physiological chemistry (particularly for animals and humans) is:

Murray,  R.; Mayes, Peter A.; Rodwell, Victor W.; and, Granner,Daryl K. 1999. Harper's Biochemistry (25th ed.). Appleton & Lange.
Harper's Biochemistry (25th ed.)

A digitalized version of the Roche Applied Science "Biochemical Pathways" is now available on the ExPASy molecular biology WWW server of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB), at the University of Geneva.  An electronic index allows for the quick localization of any metabolite or enzyme on the chart. In addition, most enzyme names on the chart act as links to the extensive ENZYME database.
